Organizational Principles

Purpose & Mission Statement:

Kids' Rock! Ministry's purpose is to reach children in public elementary schools with the Gospel of Christ. We do this by hosting and promoting weekly after-school clubs in schools where we share the Gospel with the kids who God sends.

Denomination(s): Interdenominational

Doctrinal Statement:

WHAT WE BELIEVE We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Genesis 1:1-3; John 1:1-4; John 17:5) We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (John 1:1, 14; Matthew 1:20; Hebrews 4:15; Matthew 8:27; 1 John 2:2; Colossians 1:20; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Mark 16:19; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Philippians 2:5-11) We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who leads us into all Truth and by whose indwelling and empowering the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and do the work of God. (John 15:26; John 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 2:13; Galatians 5:22; Romans 8:26; Acts 1:8) We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, eternal Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 12:6; Psalm 119:89) We believe that all have sinned, are dead in transgressions, and deserving of wrath, but in God’s great mercy He made a way, the only way, for us to be reconciled to Himself through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-5; John 14:6; Galatians 2:20; Titus 3:5; Romans 3:28; John 3:16) We believe in the spiritual unity of the Church, which is the Body of Christ, composed of all who are regenerated through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 4:3-6; Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:5) We believe in the evangelization of the world, that the primary mission of the Body of Christ is to share the Gospel with all people. (Matthew 18:14; Mark 16:15; Romans 10:14-15) We believe God’s redemptive purpose will be consummated by the return of Christ to raise the dead, judge all people, and establish His glorious kingdom. Those who are apart from Christ shall be eternally separated from God’s presence, but the redeemed shall live and reign with Him forever. (Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Hebrews 9:27-28; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)

Core Values:

SUBMISSION TO GOD'S AUTHORITY We understand and acknowledge that this is God’s work and ministry and in this knowledge we submit to God’s leading and will in all that we do. In prayer, we lay all plans before the Lord, and follow His voice to the extent that our faith and discernment permit. We recognize the Holy Bible as God’s very Word, and conform all we do in obedience to it.

WHO WE ARE We are born again believers. We are not associated with any particular church or other organization. We are interdenominational, evangelical Christian by common characterization, the particulars of our beliefs being outlined in our Statement of Faith.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER We make decisions in unity, putting off personal preferences and agendas, to achieve consensus and maintain the bonds of peace. We operate in the gifts that God has given us - individually and collectively. We love the children God sends us and all who God puts before us with the love of Christ to the measure He capacitates us.

WHAT AND HOW WE TEACH We teach the Word of God; the Holy Bible. We avoid teaching doctrine and beliefs that are generally controversial or denomination-ally distinctive, and we do not administer sacraments. We teach in creative and engaging ways, and are committed to making Kids’ Rock! a fun and inviting place for children to come. We teach the message of salvation and provide children ample opportunity to receive Christ as their Savior. We seek to disciple and build up children in their faith and encourage them to be evangelical in mind and concern. We seek to connect with parents and families, encouraging them in their faith.

HOW WE OPERATE WITHIN A SCHOOL In humility and grace, we seek to establish and maintain exemplary relationships with school staff and administrators, in order that we might find favor and bear a witness for Christ. We boldly proclaim the name of Christ, within the context of legal parameters, and while being sensitive to the hearer and observer. We follow all established law and school policies and procedures whether formal or informal. Where we find our constitutional rights to be suppressed in holding and promoting this ministry within a school(s), we pursue our rights, and do so in a manner that is both professional and Godly.

HOW WE GENERATE INVOLVEMENT WHILE MAINTAINING SAFETY OF KIDS We actively recruit and encourage parents and other members of the community who show an interest in helping with Kids’ Rock! to get involved. We thoroughly screen every volunteer and staff member. We ensure that any person(s) being invited to come as a guest to share a message holds the same faith and values that volunteers are expected to, and that the guest will present an appropriate, biblically based message.

HOW WE MAKE THE MINISTRY ACCESSIBLE We are committed to making Kids’ Rock! available to children in our public elementary schools; to those God sends us and puts in our care. Our preference is to hold Kids’ Rock! in the school, for both tangible and intangible benefits. We seek to make Kids’ Rock! as accessible to children as possible, removing whatever barriers we can. We do not charge to attend Kids’ Rock!, but seek other forms of funding to cover whatever costs we may incur.

HOW WE ACTIVELY PROMOTE THE MINISTRY We actively look for ways to promote Kids’ Rock! within a school, including, but not limited to using the school’s notification methods, providing ways and encouraging kids to invite friends, and seeking to make connections with families through our own involvement in the school. We share the Kids’ Rock! ministry with people we know and encourage parents and interested parties at other schools to look into starting their own group.

Additional Information:

Kids' Rock! provides a unique opportunity to reach public schools utilizing constitutional law that provides considerable access to schools. The ministry targets an age group (5 - 12 year old's) that has been statistically shown to be 6 times more likely to respond to the Gospel then any other age group, and targets a venue - public elementary schools - that houses 90% of the children in the United States. This ministry operates in the most fertile harvest field in our nation. Please join us in this fruitful and rewarding work!

Training Process:

We train volunteers through coaching and mentoring, as well as providing a ministry start-up guide. We primarily train the core team who will start our ministry at a school. We basically walk them through the start-up process until they are comfortable running their group on their own. The entire start-up process typically takes 2 - 3 months.
